Nat and Ness

‘The Plant Doctor’ was born in August 2019, with Nat and Ness.

In 2019 Nat house sat for Ness while she went on vacation for a month. When Ness returned all her sad dying plants were back to full health; growing and thriving.
Ness was blown away, and so relieved to see her plants looking so happy. It’s so stressful when your plants are dying right in front of you and you don’t know why! Nat had left small notes for Ness around the house explaining why each plant was sick and how it needed to be treated.

However, over the following months Ness slowly lost/misplaced the notes, and her plants were dying again. She called Nat up and said “I can’t do this and I need you to help! And my mates are the same! We need to teach this to people!”

And this completely aligned with what Nat had been experiencing.

By 2019 Nat had cultivated over 500+ plants at the studios where she works, and people were always asking:

“How did I kill a cactus?!”

“Why is my peace lily dead?!”

”I can’t have any green things! I always kill them!”

Feeling devastated by seeing so many peoples’ frustration and sadness, Nat always spent time with people explaining and helping them as much as possible, but was starting to see this was a huge knowledge gap for a huge amount of people. She could see people really wanting to be around more plants, wanting to live a greener life, enjoy the health benefits that plants bring, and wanting to enjoy watching a plant grow and thrive. But they were left distraught, slowly watching their plants die. There isn’t consistent plant care information online, there are heaps of myths going around that people fall for, and when buying a plant from a nursery the plant tag just says “light” and “water”. It doesn’t say how much, doesn’t say when, doesn’t say how often, nothing about when to repot, when to fertilise, how to repair, how to do anything!

So when Ness suggested sharing indoor plant knowledge with more people,
Nat was already on board.
